Wales vs South Africa Car Parking Advice

With many due in the capital for the Wales vs South Africa Autumn International which will be taking place at the Principality Stadium on Saturday 23rd November 2024, we’ve prepared a quick guide to help you find the best car parking.

Road Closures

From 7:00 AM, Scott Road and Park Street will be closed to facilitate preparations at Gate 5 and ensure the safety of queuing fans.

A full city centre road closure will be implemented from 1:30 PM to 9:45 PM, affecting the following areas:

  • Kingsway: Closed from its junction with North Road to Duke Street.
  • Cowbridge Road East: Closed from its junction with Cathedral Road to Westgate Street.
  • Tudor Street: Closed from Clare Road to Wood Street. Residents and traders can access this area via Fitzhammon Embankment.
  • Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street: Closed from Despenser Place to Tudor Street. Residents and traders will retain access.

The following roads will be fully closed:

  • Duke Street
  • Castle Street
  • High Street
  • St Mary Street
  • Caroline Street
  • Wood Street
  • Central Square
  • Westgate Street
  • Quay Street
  • Guildhall Place
  • Golate
  • Park Street
  • Havelock Street
  • Scott Road

During the closures, Station Terrace and Guildford Street, from Newport Road to Churchill Way, will be accessible only to buses to maintain consistent transport links to Churchill Way satellite points.

Penarth Road will close 30 minutes before the game ends and remain closed for up to an hour after the final whistle to ensure the safe movement of train passengers near the station.

Where to Park for Wales vs South Africa in Cardiff

There will be highly convenient parking available at Bute Building, CF10 3WT which is just a 10 minute walk away from the Principality Stadium.

To find the best route to the car park, please follow the directions below as submitted by the parking attendants who will be there to greet you as you arrive:

Please follow the directions to the car park and not just depend on finding it by using the postcode.

Leave M4 at junction 29 (signposted Cardiff (E&S) / A48(M)).

Follow A48 for 7.5 miles (BE AWARE there is a speed camera where speed reduces to 40mph), leaving at 5th exit signposted Cardiff City Centre, Cardiff University.

Move over to left hand lane on slip road and take 2nd exit off roundabout (signposted City Centre).

Be aware there is a speed camera very soon on this road.

Go through three proper sets of traffic lights. When you pass through the third set of lights, you then pass three white stone buildings on the left hand side. Turn into the Bute Building /Glamorgan Building parking after these buildings.

The car park is open from 1 PM and closes 90 minutes after the game ends.
